The current situation about applying China visa overseas:

22nd Dec 2020 - Since March 2020, China government adjusted the entry policy several times based on the COVID-19 situation outside. VisaInChina try to use simple words to explain the current policy of applying China visa overseas. Especially for most 2 popular type: Business & Work.

If you DON’T HAVE a VALID Residence Permit (Work/Personal matters/Family re-union)

Purpose: Economic, Trade, Scientific or Technological
Apply M visa
Key documents: PU letter (business)
Family accompany: Not available
Difficulty level of PU letter obtaining: Very very difficult, must be HUGE business project.

Purpose: Work
Apply Z visa
Scenario 1:
Foreign work permit (FWP, the blue card): Valid
Residence permit: Expired (but issued after 28th March 2020)
Key documents: PU letter (working) + Valid FWP
Family accompany: Not available
Difficulty level of PU letter obtaining: Difficult, but better than business visa and scenario 2

Scenario 2: If not scenario 1
Key documents: PU letter (working) + Notification of Foreign Work Permit (NFWP)
Family accompany: Not available
Difficulty level of PU letter obtaining: Difficult, but better than business visa

If you HAVE a VALID Residence Permit (Work/Personal matters/Family re-union)

You can come to China directly except if you are living in following countries and want to fly from following countries to China

Living in above countries and want to come to China? Then you have to apply a brand new M or Z visa.

On top of the visa, something you also need to know:

1. International flight cancel happens frequently
2. You need to have negative PCR nucleic acid test and IgM anti-body test results with 48 hours before your boarding.
3. You need to get a green QR code marked with "HDC" online (https://hrhk.cs.mfa.gov.cn/H5/)
4. You need to have 14 days quarantine after you arrive China.
5. Policy changes quickly. Please double confirm with the Chinese Consulate and the China visa center as always.
