[ News ] From 8th Oct 2011, HK can issue 3 month continous stay L visa. Friendly notice: there was 2 visa offices in HK, one is the old Chinese Embassy in HK Harbor Road, Wanchai. This visa office is much strict for the China visa application, always gives out 10-15 days short term visa. Another visa office was on the border of HK and Shenzhen luohu, this office can issue 3 month visa now. So if you failed to get a visa in HK wanchai office, then you still can try the another office.

[ News ] From 1st Jun 2011, When you apply the L visa extension in shanghai, if you have too many L or F visas before in your passport, the Entry and Exit Administration Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security might refuse your application or give you extension less than 30 days (F.E 10-20 days only).

Chinese tourist or Chinese travel Visa (L Visa) is issued to an alien who comes to China for sightseeing, visiting relatives or friends, other personal affairs, etc.

If you have entered into China with a tourist or travel (L) visa, and want to stay in China longer than the valid period specified on your visa, you are required to extend China tourist visa. You may apply for a 1 month 0 or 1 entry L visa extension, maxmium twice.

If you finish your studying or working here, need 1 more month to pack or find new school or job, You may apply for a 1 month 0 entry L visa, maxmium 1 time. For the L visa extension, we have following services:

L0 Service: You have China L Visa now, Want to get 1 month with 0 or 1 entry L visa extension:

1. Passport with valid visa
2. Local Shanghai Registration Form Of Temporary Residence( up to date ) [ Sample ]
3. 2 Passport Photographs (size 4.5cm*3.5cm)

Normal Service takes: 5 Working Days
Service Cost: 500RMB/person (service fee)+ government fee (pay according to the government receipt)

Friendly Notice:
Normally, above L0 service, L visa can be extended twice, and each time 1 month.
On first L-extension we can get you a 30 day extension including entitlement to ONE re-entry during the 30 day extension period. This may very useful for those that eg. briefly travel to Mongolia/Russia/HK/Macau/Laos/Vietnam/Sth Korea/Nth Korea/Japan/any other country (note: re-entry from Nepal requires either re-entry to a non-Tibet province, for entry to Tibet province from Nepal requires special group visa and any other Chinese visa in the passport will be cancelled on issue of group visa to Tibet) and would like to re-enter within the 30 day extension period (Note: one does NOT get a new 30 day period on reentry, rather one can only stay up to 30 days from when the 1st L extension was made). An example: A tourist on L visa that expires soon applies for "L extension including 1 re-entry" and receives a new 30 day tourist period in China, with the extension period expiring at 23:59 on the 30th of September. He travels to HK on 15th of September. He may re-enter on the L-extension before the 30th of September, but must either leave or reapply for a second L-extension before 23:59 of the 30th of September.

On 2nd L extension does NOT permit re-entry. In this case, after leaving mainland China on a 2nd L extension, one needs to apply for a new visa at a Chinese Consulate. Example: The tourist above makes a second L-extension with new expiry the 30th of October. He then returns to Hong Kong on the 20th of October. He must apply then for a new Chinese visa in order to return to the mainland.

L1 Service: You have China X or Z Visa now, stop working (or studying), Want to change it to 1 month with 0 entry L visa:

1. Passport with valid visa
2. Local Shanghai Registration Form Of Temporary Residence( up to date ) [ Sample ]
3. 2 Passport Photographs (size 4.5cm*3.5cm)
If you have X China student visa, then you need to provide 1 more letter from your school to confirm you have already quit (with school official stamp) or your graduated certificate.
If you have Z China working visa, then you need provide 1 more letter from your former company to confirm you have already quit (with company official stamp)

When you come to Shanghai with a valid visa, you have to go to the local police station near your living space (if you are living in hotel, just go to the hotel reception, But don't forget to ask the hotel put their stamp on the form! ) to register your information in detail within 24 hrs.It's easy and free. Then you can get this Registration Form. If you don't know where is the correct police station you have to go, Please give us a call, we will help you to find it out for free. (As the policy of Shanghai immigration bureau, we strongly recommend you to register and get this form. and also for the foreigner who live in Shanghai, please notice when you leave China and come back or move to a new living place or change a new passport, you have to renew this form)
Tips: If you register yourself too late, maybe the police will charge you fine. Please notice as the regulation, the fine is from minimum 50RMB upto maximum 500RMB. You can negotiate about it to reach a lower amount.
