8th May 2021 - Since March 2021, Chinese Consulates in 100+ countries (List updated here: http://www.visainchina.com/news20210316.html) start to provide facilitation for visa applicant who is inoculated with COVID-19 vaccine produced in China. VisaInChina try to use simple words to explain the current policy of applying China visa overseas. Especially for Business, Work and Family reunion.
If you are outside of China and would like to apply a new visa to enter China:
Purpose: Economic, Trade, Scientific or Technological
Apply M visa

Difficulty level: Very difficult, must be HUGE business project.
Or
Way2: Chinese vaccine certificate + valid APEC card

As far as we know, Chinese vaccine is available in following countries/region:
Asia | HK, Macau, Malaysia, Thailand, Turkey, Philippine, Indonesia, UAE, Pakistan, Cambodia, Maldives, Palestine, Laos, Brunei, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh |
America | Brazil, Peru, Columbia, Chile, Argentina, Mexico |

Africa | Morocco, Egypt |
Purpose: Work
Apply Z visa
Way1: PU letter (working) + Notification of Foreign Work Permit (NFWP)

Or
Way 2: Chinese vaccine certificate + Notification of Foreign Work Permit (NFWP)
Family accompany: Available
Difficulty level: Depends if Chinese vaccine is available in your country or not. List above.
Purpose: Family reunion
Apply Q1 visa
Way 1: Chinese vaccine certificate + relationship certificate
Difficulty level: Depends if Chinese vaccine is available in your country or not. List above.
If you are inside of China, have a VALID Residence Permit (Work/Personal matters/Family re-union), want to leave China and come back.
You can leave and come back to China directly except if you go to following countries:
Canada, UK, Belgium, Italy, France, Russia, Ukraine, India, Philippine, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Ethiopia, *South Africa (If you have valid residence permit and come to China from South Africa, you need to confirm with the Chinese Consulate in advance)
Sample case1: I am US citizen, I have a valid family reunion residence permit, I need to go back to US and come back, Is that ok?
A: Yes, US is not in above 13 countries list, so you can go to US and come back with the same valid family reunion residence permit.
Sample case 2: I am Italian working in China now, I have a valid work residence permit, I need to go back to Italy and come back, Is that ok?
A: If you go back to Italy, your residence permit will be invalid, you need to apply a brand new visa to come back. But if you are inoculated with Chinese vaccine already in China, then you can apply a brand new Z visa with simple paperwork in the Chinese Consulate in Italy. (Passport + work residence permit + employer’s invitation letter + Chinese vaccine certificate). After you come back to China, we can change that Z visa to residence permit again within 30 days.
VisaInChina strongly suggest you avoid any unnecessary travel, because the pandemic is still serious outside, no one can guarantee the policy tomorrow will be the same as today. But if you do need to travel, inoculated with Chinese vaccine before you leaving is a better choice.
