16th Sept 2021 - The current policy of applying China visa overseas. Especially for Business, Work and Family reunion. - We marked the changes in Italic & underline. (compare to the policy in May 2021)

If you are outside of China and would like to apply a new visa to enter China:

Purpose: Economic, Trade, Scientific or Technological
Apply M visa
Way1: PU letter (business) + WHO-approved vaccination certificate
Family accompany: Not available
Difficulty level: Very difficult, must be HUGE business project.
Or
Way2: Chinese vaccine certificate + valid APEC card
Family accompany: Not available
Difficulty level: Depends if you can inoculate Chinese vaccine or not.

As far as we know, Chinese vaccine is available in following countries/region:

Asia	HK, Macau, Malaysia, Thailand, Turkey, Philippine, Indonesia, UAE, Pakistan, Cambodia, Maldives, Palestine, Laos, Brunei, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh
America	Brazil, Peru, Columbia, Chile, Argentina, Mexico
Europe	Hungary, Serbia, Belarus
Africa	Morocco, Egypt

Purpose: Work
Apply Z visa
Way1: PU letter (working) + Notification of Foreign Work Permit (NFWP) + WHO-approved vaccination certificate
Family accompany: Available
Difficulty level: Difficult, only huge company which paid a lot of taxes in China can get PU letter.
Or
Way 2: Chinese vaccine certificate + Notification of Foreign Work Permit (NFWP)
Family accompany: Available
Difficulty level: Depends if Chinese vaccine is available in your country or not. List above.

Purpose: Family reunion
Foreigner (who is working in shanghai)'s family member
Apply S1 or S2 visa
Way 1: PU letter (family members) + relationship certificate + WHO-approved vaccination certificate
Difficulty level: Just re-open, need more time to see

Chinese's family member
Apply Q1 or Q2 visa
Way 1: Chinese vaccine certificate + relationship certificate
Difficulty level: Depends if Chinese vaccine is available in your country or not. List above.

• Moderna (mRNA-1273) COVID-19 Vaccine
• J&J COVID-19 vaccine
• Oxford/AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine
• Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine
• Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine
