30th Jun 2022 - China Embassy in Italy, France, UK and Sinapore annouance a further adjustment of China visas. It's NO need PU letter any more to apply the China business M visa. It means you only need an invitation letter written by your Chinese partner/company. You can apply the short term business visa easily.

Beside that, another great news is China shorten the quarantine time to 7+3 days, so now come to China for a short term business trip become available again!

If you are outside of China and would like to apply a new visa to enter China:

Purpose: Economic, Trade, Scientific or Technological
Apply M visa
Way1: Company invitation letter + vaccination certificate
Family accompany: Not available
Difficulty level: Easy, already available at Chinese Consulate in Italy, France, UK and Singapore. Hopefully, it will be open at more and more countries in the near future.
Or
Way2: PU letter + vaccination certificate
Family accompany: Not available
Difficulty level: Difficult.

Purpose: Work
Apply Z visa - (No Need PU letter anymore)
Way1: Notification of Foreign Work Permit (NFWP) + vaccination certificate
Family accompany: Available
Difficulty level: EASY

Purpose: Family reunion
Foreigner (who is working in shanghai)'s family member
Apply S1 or S2 visa - (No Need PU letter anymore)
Key document: Relationship certificate + vaccination certificate
Difficulty level: Easy

Foreigner who have Chinese family member
Apply Q1 or Q2 visa - (No Need PU letter anymore)
Key document: Relationship certificate + vaccination certificate
Difficulty level: Easy

Purpose: Travel
Apply L visa - Still not available

Purpose: Study
Apply X visa - Still not available
